Associate Physiotherapist

Charbel Akl

Charbel is an Associate Physiotherapist at Kogarah Physiotherapy & Sports Clinic. He completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Australian Catholic University (ACU) and a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney.

Charbel has experience working in private practice settings, allowing him to develop a strong understanding of patient needs across a range of musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions. He has also held roles within elite and semi-professional sporting environments, including involvement with the Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg and Combined University Blues (CUBS) programs, as well as the Balmain Tigers SG Ball and Harold Matthews squads. These experiences have provided valuable insight into the physical and psychological demands of injury rehabilitation and return to performance.

Charbel takes a holistic, person-centred approach to care, aiming to identify the underlying contributors to injury rather than focusing solely on symptoms. He prioritises thorough assessment, clear communication, and progressive rehabilitation to guide patients confidently through their recovery journey.

With a strong personal background in sport — including rugby league, football, oztag, touch football, and basketball — Charbel brings a practical understanding of athletic demands and the challenges associated with returning to sport after injury. This allows him to relate closely to patients and tailor rehabilitation to real-world movement requirements.
